In response to several complaints from residents on Miller Road south of the United Church, and a petition from residents on Miller Road north of the United Church, the 30 km/hr speed zone has been extended from the Snug Cove area. Additionally, a 30 km/hr speed limit has been imposed on Scarborough Road and a portion of Eagle Cliff Road due to poor sightlines, tight corners and the absence of a dedicated pedestrian thoroughfare within this densely settled neighbourhood.

The Public Works department is currently preparing a traffic management plan to address excessive speed in residential neighbourhoods on Bowen Island. In the near future, all Bowen Island homeowners will be surveyed to assess public opinion regarding current speed limits and perceived need for traffic calming in their neighbourhood.

When people get comfortable within their area they can sometimes allow their concentration to drop. The municipality asks that you plan ahead, drive responsibly, and respect your neighbours.
