In 2008, I was elected councillor and municipal trustee. I have learned much about the challenges facing our small municipality.
I served as Chair of the National Park Council Committee and participated as Council liaison on the National Park Community Advisory Committee. I sat on the Islands Trust Fund Board. I served as chair of a task force charged with making recommendations on a review of the Islands Trust Policy Statement.
Before retiring to Bowen Island in 2005, I worked as a lawyer in the Ministry of Attorney General, where I practiced constitutional and administrative law. After retirement, I continued to do legal contract work and sat as a member of the Property Assessment Appeal Board. I occasionally teach an administrative justice course to new appointees on provincial tribunals.
Previous leadership experience includes my position as Executive Director in the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs in mid-nineties, president of the Legal Services Branch Lawyers Association, president of the North Shore Women's Centre, president of school Parents Advisory Council and chair of a North Shore Daycare Advocacy Committee.
I have been coming to Bowen Island since 1963. In the late 70’s and through the 80s, I owned a home in Tunstall Bay, where I spent many summer days with my children. I now reside in Eagle Cliff and am blessed with two grandchildren who love coming to visit.
I enjoy hiking, kayaking and skiing, and the quieter activities of piano and reading.
