I bring to Council more than 30 years of practical business experience, having founded Zodiac Marine and Hurricane Rescue Craft in the early 70’s. After retiring from the boat business, I owned and operated West Van Esso at the corner of 14th and Marine Dr.
While mainly retired at present, I continue to operate several home-based businesses including Journeymakers Golf & Fishing which markets BC adventure tours and Union Bay Direct, which provides fundraising facilitation for charitable organizations.
For 9 years I was a Director of the South Bowen Community Association, a neighborhood action group formed to protect the Cowan Point environment and dialogue with Bowen Island Properties, the developer of Cowan Point & Seymour Landing.
For 3 years I was in charge of the construction of the Bowen Island Golf Course.
I am currently a Director of Bowen’s First Credit Union and a Director of the Bowen Island Golf Club.
I have served the past 3 years as a Municipal Councilor and was instrumental in obtaining a $1.6 million federal government grant to upgrade the Snug Cove sewage treatment plant. As Council Liaison to the Community Centre Committee, I have been working actively with that committee to develop concept options, business plans and a fund-raising strategy for this exciting project and look forward to breaking ground in this next term. I am now seeking re-election.
My wife Susan summered on Bowen since 1948, and as a couple we have spent summers here since 1971. In 1996 we built a year round house and became full time residents of South Bowen and laterally, the Bowen Bay area.
