General Information

The next local government election will take place on November 15, 2014.

General local government elections in British Columbia are held every three years. Electors on Bowen Island Municipality vote to elect a Mayor, six Councillors and two Islands Trust Municipal Trustees.  (School District #45 {West Vancouver} Trustee elections are handled by the District of West Vancouver.)

Bowen Island Municipal Council is comprised of a Mayor and six Councillors each elected for a three-year term. In addition, two municipal trustees represent Bowen Island Municipal Council on the Islands Trust Council. The two persons on the ballot for the municipal trustees for the Islands Trust Council receiving the highest and second highest number of votes who are elected to Council are approved at the inaugural Council meeting as the municipal trustees.

Bowen Island Municipality will be using the Provincial Voters List for Resident Electors and is currently preparing a List of Registered Voters for Non-Resident Property Electors. Elections and by-elections are conducted according to the rules and regulations set out in the Local Government Act which governs local government elections throughout British Columbia.
