General Information for Islands Trust Municipal Trustees Candidates:
The Islands Trust is a federation of local governments with a provincial mandate (from the Islands Trust Act) to make land use decisions that will “preserve and protect” B.C.’s Gulf Islands. Like other communities in B.C., island communities elect their local representatives for the Islands Trust every three years, in conjunction with the local government elections.
Two Municipal Trustees represent Bowen Island Municipal Council on the Islands Trust Council.

-
Candidates for mayor and councillor must indicate on their nomination papers if they wish to be considered for selection as a municipal trustee for the Islands Trust Council;
-
Electors are asked to select the two members of Council to be appointed as municipal trustees for Islands Trust Council; and
-
The two persons on the ballot for the municipal trustees for the Islands Trust Council receiving the highest and second highest number of vote and who are elected to Council must be appointed by Council at the inaugural meeting as municipal trustees for the Islands Trust Council.
