A proud husband and father of two, Daron feels privileged to have called Bowen Island home since 1993. He also feels very fortunate to share Bowen with nearly all of his immediate family – a blessed generational lifestyle.
As the founder of a residential construction business with well established local roots , he has come to realize the increasing importance of local economy to the notion of island sustainability. Further, Daron realizes there is a critical lack of housing diversity on Bowen Island as it relates to topography, location, age, income, and lifestyle.
Contributing time on Sundays to the development of the island’s future soccer stars has provided Daron with a glimpse of social and recreational perspective through the eyes of children. Unbiased and unfettered, this perspective makes one realize the importance of choices made now and their impact in the future.
As Vice Chair of the Bowen Island Community Foundation, he is very proud of the contributions made to the Knick Knack Nook, Family Place, Aaron’s Run, the memorial scholarships, improvements to the Memorial Garden, and the Children’s Centre outbuilding. In particular, he is still amazed that our elementary school kids accumulated in excess of 184,400 pennies during the “Pennies for Bowen” event. That’s initiative.
With a history of “making things happen”, Daron is concerned with the lack of community amenities and responsible housing options for Bowen Islanders. He looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead with a conviction of proven community spirit that Bowen Island deserves.
