The Surplus Lands Working Group (SLWG) is one of three working groups created by Council under its 2006 Strategic Plan to advance the implementation of the Snug Cove Village Plan (Bylaw 137, 2004).
The task of the SLWG includes examining options for the use and ultimate disposal of the surplus lands, assessing community needs for housing, commercial and other uses, and recommending a land use and disposal strategy to Council.
The details of the task of the SLWG are described in the SLWG Terms of Reference, which were created within the context of Council’s Snug Cove Action Plan, and described in Reshaping Snug Cove: A Framework for Taking Action (June 2006).

At their special meeting on May 17, 2007, Council received the attached reprot from the Suplus Lands Working Group entitiled "Bowen Island's Sustainable Future: A strategy for the Use and Disposition of Municipal Lands in Snug Cove".
